Tampa Police are investigating the shooting of a 9-year-old boy on Friday night.

Police say the shooting happened late Friday afternoon near 1721 N. Oregon Avenue.

Officials say three kids were standing around when one of them pulled out a gun. Officers say the kids were looking at the gun and it accidentally fired, hitting the boy in the forearm.

Detectives say the boy was transported to a hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

Police are looking for the kid who fired the gun and are sorting through multiple stories of how the child was shot.

Officials say the children are believed to be either close friends or related.
