Durham Police offer reward for help in American Tobacco robbery

DURHAM, N.C. -

A CrimeStoppers reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in connection with an assault and robbery Saturday on the American Tobacco Trail.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday  between the South Street and Lawson Street entrances to the trail.

A man told officers he was walking on the trail when two men approached him and hit him with a wooden stick. The suspects took $13 and fled.

One suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and between 18 and 20 years old. He was wearing a red T-shirt and red shorts. The second suspect was described as a black male with a dark complexion, a slim face and dreads. He was 20 to 25 years old and was wearing a red T-shirt and red shorts.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
