ECU observes National POW/MIA Day

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Friday is National POW/MIA Day.
People across the country took time to remember our prisoners of war and those still missing in action.

On ECU's campus, the Air Force ROTC set up a display in Wright Plaza.
9 On Your Side caught up with students to see what the day means to them.

"As a future airmen, I would want the same respect as we give respect to them," said Cadet Hunnicutt, ECU AF ROTC.

"My dad was in the Army for 27 years. He was deployed 6 times, so just not knowing if he'd come back is dear to my heart. It affected me a lot. If he was ever to be a prisoner of war I don't know what I would do," said Porsha Jackson, student.

Congress passed a resolution authorizing the national day of recognition back in 1979. It moved it to the 3rd Friday in September in 1986.
