Man, 2 dogs killed in Fayetteville duplex fire

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A man and his two dogs died in a fire Saturday night in Fayetteville.

Fire fighters were called to the duplex in the 600 block of Dashland Drive around 11:56 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, fire and smoke was seen coming from the structure.

Tiliha Turner said police told her that her boyfriend, George Wallace, died in the fire along with two dogs.

Turner said Wallace left her home around 8 or 9 p.m. Saturday. She said around 2 or 3 a.m., a neighbor knocked on her door and said, "Your boyfriend's house is on fire."

"The world has lost a good man," said Turner.

The heat from the fire melted the siding of the duplex next door.

Neighbors say nobody lived in the other half of the duplex that burned. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
