LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) - Lakeland police officer Julio Pagan was arrested on charges of sexual battery, aggravated stalking and transported to the Polk County jail Thursday afternoon.

Officer Pagan was put on suspension with pay after the department received allegations of sexual misconduct against him.  The department launched a criminal investigation against him and he was immediately placed on leave and relieved of all duties, according to police reports. He will be terminated later on Thursday or Friday, according to police.

Officer Pagan was charged with 2 counts of armed sexual battery and aggravated stalking. He refused to talk to reporters while being booked. He will remain on administrative leave pending completion of the termination process by LPD Chief Womack.

Chief Womack said at the press conference about the case that Pagan responded to a call at the victim's house and then stayed there to harass her and have sex with her. He came back a few times, according to the police report.

Chief Womack said that Pagan's victim called the LPD emergency center's administrative line about the abuse allegations last month but the information didn't make it to Womack until September. LPD is conducting an administrative investigation as to why the call wasn't processed earlier. That investigation is 90 percent complete.

"It doesn't matter which phone rang," Womack said about the victim's call, adding that they will finish this investigation swiftly.

Chief Womack said she felt shocked, outraged and disgusted by the case.

"Do you wanna know how I feel about it? Fed up!" she said, adding that Pagan violated the trust of every citizen in Lakeland.
