2 in Durham arrested on drug trafficking charges

DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham Police Department Special Operations Division investigators arrested two people on drug trafficking charges on Friday. More than 7 pounds of powder cocaine worth at least $70,000, two guns and more than $14,000 cash were recovered. 

Simon Gonzalez, 41, of North Hyde Park Avenue, was charged with five counts of trafficking in cocaine as well as several other felony drug charges. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $3 million bond. 

Guadalupe Garcia-Martinez, 48, of North Hyde Park Avenue, was charged with conspiring to traffic cocaine. She was placed in Durham County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

In a separate case, on Thursday, investigators with the Special Operations Division arrested Geoffrey Hansley, 30, of Dansey Circle, on felony drug charges.

More than 7 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $6,500 was seized. Hansley was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hansley's bond was set at $10,000.
