Person of interest in Brandon double murder turns himself in

Posted: Updated:
BRANDON FL (WFLA) -

The person of interest in a double murder at a Brandon townhome that was later set on fire has turned himself in. Hillsborough County Sheriff Public Information Officer Larry McKinnon said 24-year-old Charles Martinez walked into the Hillsborough County Courthouse with his attorney at about 4 p.m. Friday.

McKinnon said he is being evaluated at a local hospital and will then be booked into the Orient Road Jail on outstanding warrants for home invasion robbery and false imprisonment. Martinez has not been charged in the murders.

Hillsborough deputies also identified one of the victims on Friday afternoon as 25-year-old Lindsay Greene. She was living in the townhome where her body was found Thursday.

Authorities have not released the identity of the second victim.

Detectives say the two women were fatally shot inside the townhome that was later set on fire, apparently in an effort to cover up the crime.

The bodies of the women were found Thursday afternoon at the Carlisle Club Townhomes in Brandon.

Investigators remained at the home throughout Thursday night looking for evidence. The bodies of the women were removed from the home at 1:00 a.m. on Friday. Officials remained on the scene Friday morning ventilating the home in an attempt to remove the fumes.

Deputies continue to ask that anyone who has information about Martinez to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
