Man charged with robbing two in downtown Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. -

An 18-year-old man who police listed as a student at Shaw University is charged with attempted robbery on Thursday.

Tyvon Lee Beasley, who is listed as 6 feet 7 and 225 pounds, is accused of stealing a scarf and umbrella from two people. The warrant said the theft was done with a "forcible and violent action" that put the two people in fear of harm.

He was arrested in the 300 block of Fayetteville Street.

Shaw said it had no comment on the matter.
