Police investigate shooting death of Wayne Co. man

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

Goldsboro police is investigating an early morning shooting on Devereaux Street.

Officers were dispatched to the area in reference to shots fired, which was later upgraded to a subject being shot at 1000 Devereaux St.

When officer arrived to the scene, they found 35-year-old Alton Leevon Fields Jr., suffering from gunshot wounds.

Fields was taken to Wayne County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the shooting death of Fields is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
