'Happy Gilmore' actor charged with DWI in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. -

An actor known to many as "Shooter McGavin" of Happy Gilmore fame, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Wilmington in connection to driving while impaired.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, a trooper came into contact with Christopher McDonald near Third Street in Wilmington.

During the course of the investigation, the trooper determined that McDonald was intoxicated. The actor consented to a Breathalyzer and blew a .15, nearly twice the legal driving limit of .08.

According to jail records, McDonald was charged with DWI. He was booked around 4:30 a.m. and is in jail under a $1,000 bond.

The actor is also known for his role of Tommy Jefferson in 32 episodes of NBC's Harry's Law from 2011-2012.

McDonald is rumored to be in the film The Squeeze, which is in pre-production in the Wilmington area.
