Woman shot in the leg during attempted robbery in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. -

A woman was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery at an ATM in Durham Sunday night.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. at a Coastal Federal Credit Union ATM at the corner of University Drive and Shannon Road.

A 38-year-old woman pulled up to the drive-thru ATM when a white male wearing a ski mask approached her vehicle and pointed a gun at her, reported police.

The suspect shot the woman in the leg and fled the scene without taking anything.

The woman was taken to Duke Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
