(WJHL) -

Sixty years ago, the Tri-Cities region was about to get its very first local television station. On October 26th 1953, WJHL-TV went on the air.

We are counting down to the anniversary by digging into the archives and remembering the people and programs that made WJHL what it is today.

Many of you remember Kathryn Willis.

The former actress came to WJHL-TV in the early 1950’s and hosted a show that bore her name. The Kathryn Willis show was one of the most popular shows in WJHL history.

She did it all - news of the day, cooking segments, interviews with interesting people.

Her guests included local residents, national politicians and even movie stars who were traveling through the area.

Take a look at our attached slideshow to see more WJHL memories and in a special one-hour broadcast on Tuesday, October 29th from 7-8 pm, WJHL Celebrates: 60 Years In Your Corner.
