A Goldsboro man is charged with stealing more than 20,000 pounds of steel from Norfolk Southern Railway over the past month.

Goldsboro Police arrested 29-year-old Brandon Randolph after he was found with a large amount of steel in the back of his vehicle. Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office had stopped to assist Randolph when he ran out of gas on Oct. 24.

Police found that Randolph had stolen 20 railroad angle bars, eight railroad pie plates and a bag of railroad clips from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

An investigation later found that he had stolen 20,640 pounds of steel from Norfolk Southern Railway over the past month.

He was charged with felonious larceny, 16 counts of misdemeanor first degree trespassing, 15 counts of misdemeanor larceny, 15 counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen good and 15 counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

He is being held on a $230,000 bond.
