RED OAK, N.C. -

Two men have been arrested for an armed robbery at a Dollar General store outside Rocky Mount Tuesday night.

The Nash County Sheriff's Office was called to the Dollar General for a reported armed robbery in progress. The vehicle involved in the robbery was seen by a deputy on the way to the call and a pursuit began.

The driver, Aldridge Robinson, 18, of Rocky Mount, refused to stop and a chase ensued until the suspect crashed the car on Hunter Hill Road in Red Oak. The passenger, Alvonta Speight, 19, of Rocky Mount, was taken into custody at the scene, but the Robinson escaped on foot and wasn't found until the next day when Rocky Mount police arrested him.

Both suspects are being held in Nash County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
