Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

The evangelist who's been called "America's pastor" has received birthday tributes in Congress.

The Rev. Billy Graham turns 95 today, with hundreds attending a birthday party in his honor in Asheville, N.C.

On the Senate floor, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell praised Graham, who he called a "good and humble servant, for his decades of ministry and his tireless preaching of the gospel."

Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., said Billy Graham has had an "important impact" on his life and the lives of millions around the world.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he's never met Graham but appreciates the legendary preacher's integrity.

A new video of Billy Graham from his home is being broadcast tonight as part of a nationwide religious outreach called "My Hope."
