MORGANTON, N.C. -

Firefighters continue to battle a growing blaze in the Linville Gorge Wilderness area of the Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina.

The U.S. Forest Service says it has about 40 firefighters working on the fire near Table Rock Mountain in Burke County.

The fire increased from 40 acres to 100 acres by Wednesday morning. The forest service says the fire expected to continue growing for the next couple of days.

Firefighters continue to work to protect the Outward Bound base camp area, which is vacant. No other homes or structures are threatened.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
