RALEIGH, N.C. -

Two students from North Carolina are some of this year's Rhodes Scholars.

Charles Samuel Tyson, of Chapel Hill, is among the 32 American 2014 Rhodes Scholars announced Sunday by the Rhodes Trust. The scholarships provide all expenses for study at Oxford University in England.

Tyson is planning to study English at Oxford. The University of Virginia senior is studying political and social thought and English and is executive editor of The Cavalier Daily.

Timothy Michael McGinnis, of Charlotte, graduated in June from Princeton University. He works for the Wellbody Alliance, an organization that runs a health care clinic in Sierra Leone, and plans to study the history of science, medicine and technology at Oxford.

This year's Rhodes Scholars were selected from 857 applicants endorsed by 327 colleges and universities.
