Man robs Wake Forest bank; 4 schools locked down

A man wearing a white baseball-style cap and athletic wear demanded money from a PNC Bank in Wake Forest Wednesday, brazenly showing his face before bank cameras before fleeing after the theft.

The robbery sparked immediate lockdowns at four Wake County public schools were briefly on lockdown after a bank robbery nearby, the Wake County Public Schools said Wednesday afternoon.

The lockdowns ended around 1:15 p.m.

Locked down are Wake Forest Middle School, Heritage Elementary School, Heritage Middle School and Heritage High are on "precautionary Code Yellow lockdown," the school system said.

The Wake Forest PNC Bank on Rogers Road was robbed Wednesday, Wake Forest Police said.

The robber wore a navy blue zipped running jacket and a white baseball cap.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-556-9111.

The North Carolina Bankers Association offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved.
