DUNN, N.C. -

It was Nov. 12 when the body of Troy Laferrara was found in a Pennsylvania neighborhood.

"I saw blood everywhere, his face was purple, he had keys in his hand -- I was like, 'That's a body,'" recalled Brittany Settler, who found the body, in an interview with a Pennsylvania television station.

Police in the small town of Sunbury, Penn., said Laferrara's body was dumped after he was lured on Craigslist to meet a woman for companionship. That woman, officers said, was 18-year-old Miranda Barbour.

Police said once the victim was in the couple's SUV, her husband, 22-year-old Elyett Barbour, strangled the man while Miranda Barbour -- the mother of a young child -- stabbed him to death.

All for a thrill, officers said.

"[Elyett Barbour] tells us that they intended to kill someone together," said Chief Stephen Mazzeo. "They had tried to kill other individuals and failed, and this happened to be one that actually worked."

WNCN uncovered the Barbours' marriage license, which shows they had only been married a few weeks, tying the knot on Oct. 22. They had just moved to Pennsylvania from Dunn, N.C.

Police cracked the case when they traced the victim's cell phone records back to a phone owned by Elyett Barbour. They said it was used to set up the meeting.

According to media reports, the address on the phone's account led to a home on Tart Road in Dunn. When WNCN visited the home Sunday, we were told to leave.

Sources close to the couple said a number of family members live along Tart Road. And family members were stunned to hear the news.

Many of them learned of the murder from watching the news.

Both Barbours are facing homicide charges.
