Attempted armed robbery prompts ECU campus alert

At around 10:30 Thursday night, an attempted robbery happened near East Carolina University, prompting the school to send out an alert.

It all happened at 1301 Forbes Street. The victim says a man carrying a long gun approached the house.

The suspect didn't take anything, but the victim did receive minor injuries. The suspect is a light-skinned black male standing about 6'2''. The victim says he wore jeans and a black and gray letterman's jacked trimmed in orange with the letter 'R' on the chest.

Police say there is no threat to the surrounding community at this time, but if you know anything about this case, you're asked to call police.
