Icy conditions blamed for wrecks across the Triangle

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -

Icy conditions Thursday morning has resulted in multiple accidents in the Triangle.

Interstate 40 in Orange County was blocked for several hours during the morning commute due to multiple wrecks in that area and a jackknifed tractor-trailer.

Slow traffic was reported at I-40 between I-85 and U.S. 15/501 at the Durham and Chapel Hill line due to several earlier wrecks. Icy conditions were also reported in that area.

Icy patches were also reported in Durham on the Durham Freeway as well as in Raleigh. A severe weather warning was issued Thursday morning until 10 a.m. due to driving conditions.
