Vacant building 'completely destroyed' in Durham fire

DURHAM, N.C. -

It took 35 firefighters a half an hour to contain a fire at what appeared to be a vacant building in Durham Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to 2804 Mansfield Avenue around 1:19 p.m. Tuesday.

The City of Durham Fire Department said the building was boarded up and appeared to be vacant, and the fire was heavily involved.

Firefighters were on scene for close to three hours and the building was completely destroyed.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
