The City of Salem will receive $50,000 from the state to help promote local tourism.
The money will be used to create a campaign called "Summer Love in Salem" that advertises multiple events like the Salem Fair and Blue Ridge Music Festival.
The goal of the campaign is increase attendance of local events by 10 to 15 percent.
The campaign will place television and internet advertisements in markets like Richmond and Greensboro.
Search engine optimization will also be used.
Advertisements will begin airing in March.
