RALEIGH, N.C. -

A man fell from the sixth floor of a Raleigh hotel Saturday after he and his wife booked a room to take shrooms for her birthday.

According to a search warrant, Raleigh Police were dispatched to the Embassy Suites Hotel, located at 4700 Creedmoor Road, on Jan. 4 around 11:24 p.m. in reference to a person who had fallen from a sixth floor balcony.

When officers arrived, they found the man lying unconscious on the ground and his wife crying hysterically.

An initial investigation into the fall found that the couple had booked the room "to get drunk and take psychedelic mushrooms" for her birthday.

The warrant says the couple left their room after hearing arguing inside their suite. At that point, the man went over the railing and fell 50 feet to the ground.

Among the items seized were a bank card and cell phone belonging to Matthew Brisco, as well as 10-1/2 oxycodone pills.

Police have not released the name or condition of the victim.

The case is being investigated as an assault.
