UPDATE: Sullivan County man charged with attempted murder

SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - UPDATE 1/12/14:

Greg Slemp, 42, of Kingsport, has been charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and according to deputies more charges are pending.

Deputies said the victim and his girlfriend were visiting Slemp when he got angry and shot the victim in the arm.  According to witnesses Slemp also fired in the director of the girlfriend.

Slemp fled the scene, but when he came back home officers took him into custody.

At the time of the shooting there was also a 5-year-old child. The Department of Children's Services was notified. Investigators said the child was released to a family member. 

The investigation is on-going.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital Saturday evening.

A call came in around 6:30 p.m. that someone had been shot.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the victim had been visiting with someone at a home on Hidden Valley Road when he got into an argument with the homeowner and was shot.

The victim went across the street to call for help and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Sheriff's Office, when officers arrived, the homeowner had fled the scene. A few hours later he returned to the home and was taken into custody.

A 5 year old child was at the home at the time and has since been taken into protective custody.

The case is still under investigation and charges are pending.
