JACKSONVILLE, FL - Jacksonville Police are crediting proactive officers with the arrest of a breaking and entering suspect.

Around 12:15 AM on Thursday, January 16th, officers responded to a commercial alarm call at the Bargain Shop on Bell Fork Road. Police say when they arrived, officers found that the glass front door of the business had been shattered.  The investigation revealed that a male subject carrying a duffle bag had thrown a brick through the front door, entered the business and fled with electronics equipment.

At 3:22 AM JPD Officers responded to another commercial alarm call at the Carolina Cash Exchange on Onslow Drive. Upon arrival, officers say they observed that the glass door of the business was cracked. The investigation revealed a male subject attempting to break the glass door with a brick. Entry was not made into the business and the subject left on foot in the direction of Northwoods Shopping Center.

Patrol officers canvassed the area and observed a male in front of Yesterday’s Thrift Store in the Northwoods Shopping Center.  Police say the subject, fitting the description of the subject in the surveillance footage at the Bargain Shop and Carolina Cash Exchange, was carrying the same bag identified in the morning’s previous incidents.

Dominque Hooks, 21, of Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville was taken into custody without incident. He’s charged with three counts of Breaking and Entering- Building/Business and one count of Felony Larceny and was being held at the Onslow County Detention Center under a $11,000 bonds.
