Posted: Updated:
ST. PETERSBURG, Russia -

A Russian teenager is believed to be responsible for creating the malware used in the security breach at Target during the Thanksgiving holiday.

CNN reports the malware, which IntelCrawler describes as an "off-the-shelf" product known as BlackPOS, was allegedly written by a 17-year-old with roots in St. Petersburg.

CNN also reports that experts said the teen shared the malware with others.

The breach is believed to have compromised credit card numbers and personal information to 70 million shoppers.
