Traffic accident causes power outage in Kinston

An early morning traffic accident caused people in Kinston to be without power this morning.

Rhonda Barwick with Kinston Public Safety says a car accident destroyed two light poles at the intersection of McLewean and Caswell Streets, at approximately 2:40 Friday morning. Both poles had to be removed and replaced.

Barwick says up to 500 people were effected by the outage, and power was restored in most areas by 5:25 a.m.
