Groups hold forum on organizing Southern workers

DURHAM, N.C. -

The N.C. State AFL-CIO and other organizations are sponsoring a forum about why organizing workers in the South is important to unions.

The panel discussion will be held Wednesday evening at the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies in Durham. Panelists will discuss the AFL-CIO's recent resolution calling for a Southern organizing strategy, the region's labor history, current organizing campaigns and the political influence of the South on the nation.

Other sponsors include Student Action with Farmworkers and the Class, Labor and Social Sustainability Center at Duke.
