Rex hospital treats patients for ice related injuries

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Rex Hospital reported about two dozen people came to urgent care facilities in Wake County Wednesday with weather related injuries.

Alan Wolfe with Rex said most of the injuries were sustained from slipping on ice. Patients were treated for back injuries, bruised hips, sprained and fractured ankles, according to Wolfe.

About a dozen patients came to the main emergency department at Rex on Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh, Wolfe said. Only a few of those were a result of traffic collisions.

Wolfe said five patients visited the main emergency department Friday, with 20 patients visiting urgent care facilities in Wake County.
