Hope Mills police seek man considered armed, dangerous

HOPE MILLS, N.C. -

Hope Mills Police are looking for a man believed to be armed and dangerous after he was involved in a vehicle chase and shooting Saturday.

Police say Ryan Marchon Bingham, 24, was a passenger in a vehicle that rammed police cars during the encounter.

At 12:41 a.m. on Feb. 1, a Hope Mills detective attempted to make a traffic stop for suspected narcotics violations. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit followed, with a Hope Mills police unit joining the chase.  The fleeing car hit smashed the two cars and gunfire followed.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Kevin Dejon Grissett, was shot and killed.

Bingham is also wanted for multiple charges from other jurisdictions, Hope Mills Police said. He has outstanding warrants that include trafficking cocaine, injury to personal property, assault on a child under the age of 12 and carrying a concealed weapon. He is wanted in the state of Virginia for violating a court order.

Bingham had been living on the 400 block of Palmerland Drive in Hope Mills.

Anyone spotting Bingham is asked not to approach him but to contact police immediately. He is believed to be driving a 1993 Lincoln Towncar.
