Stabbing leaves one dead, and his brother in custody in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL - An investigation is underway in Tuscaloosa after a stabbing over the weekend left one man dead, and his brother in custody.

Tuscaloosa police responded to a report on a stabbing off of 5th Avenue East in Tuscaloosa early Saturday morning. When they arrived they found Kenneth Darnell Sledge, 37, lying in the street with a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to DCH, and died from his injuries. Investigators were able to determine a suspect to be Sledge's 39 year old brother, Fredrick Lavelle Sledge. He arrived later at DCH with a slight cut on his back. He was taken into custody at the hospital after being treated and released. 

Fredrick Sledge was arrested for murder and placed into the Tuscaloosa County Jail. His bond is set at $75,000.00.

The motive for this incident is unknown.
