Camp Lejeune delays opening; Fort Bragg to close

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

An approaching winter storm is having an impact on two of North Carolina's military installations.

Officials at Camp Lejeune say all non-essential personnel are directed to report two hours later than their normal reporting time on Wednesday. Essential personnel and shift workers should report for their next scheduled working shift.

A statement said military and civilian personnel of tenant commands and anyone who has questions regarding specific reporting circumstances should contact their chain of command or work supervisor for instruction.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that Fort Bragg and its schools will be closed Wednesday. Mission and weather essential personnel will remain on normally scheduled duty.

A decision concerning Fort Bragg's status on Thursday will be made late on Wednesday and changes to normal operations will be announced on Wednesday evening.
