Reward offered for info on downtown Johnson City attack


Johnson City police are investigating an attack that happened early Sunday morning in the downtown area.

Officers responded the assault around 3:00 a.m. at 150 West State of Franklin Road where they found an unconscious man lying on the ground suffering from serious injuries.

The victim, identified in a police report as 21-year-old Matthew Brookshire of Bristol, Tenn., was found at the crosswalk between the Downtown Square parking lot and Cherry Street. He was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center by EMS.

A hospital spokesman said Wednesday morning Brookshire was in critical condition.

Police need the public’s help gathering details concerning this incident and a reward is being offered for information concerning this case.
