'There's Ice Ice Baby': School Admins Announce Closure With Rap

Posted: Updated:
The students of Durham Academy in North Carolina may be getting a day off due to bad weather Thursday, but they didn't learn about it with just the usual cookie-cutter inclement weather notice on the school's website. Head of School Michael Ulku-Steiner and Assistant Head of School and Upper School Director Lee Hark gave their students something more to smile about with a video that's sure to go viral.

Bow-tied and preppy looking, the pair took up a stance in front of their camera, with Ulku-Steiner donning a pair of ski goggles and Hart slipping into a patriotic/Olympic-themed sweater. And then the fun began as they ran through a reworked version of Vanilla Ice's 1990 hit, "Ice Ice Baby" to announce the school closure.

This seems like the start of a trend: Boone County Schools in Kentucky has racked up nearly two million YouTube hits since Feb. 3 with its "Bohemian Rhapsody" school closing announcement.
