Rose Hill Plant Fire

Posted: Updated:
ROSE HILL, N.C. - Firefighters successfully put out at a fire at the Valley Protein plant in Rose Hill early Friday morning, according to Chief Clayton Herring with the Rose Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Herring says a machine that processes greasy material was not working properly.  The grease caught fire, and that fire then spread to the rest of the room around 3:30am.  Firefighters from Rose Hill, Teachey and Magnolia were able to put the fire out in about 30 minutes.  No one was injured.

The room will not be operational for some time, but the rest of the plant is still up and running, according to Chief Herring.
