The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

According to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office report deputies were dispatched to the Cheetah Lounge located at 3939 North Washington Blvd. just after midnight in response to a fight call.

When they arrived they found an unresponsive man who was not breathing. A deputy initiated CPR until emergency personnel with the Sarasota County Fire Department arrived on scene. They continued life-saving measures but were unable to revive the injured man.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Deputies rounded up all parties involved in the altercation and all possible witnesses.

Stanford, a 32-year-old Bradenton resident, was quickly identified as a possible suspect in the man’s death. He was questioned, arrested and transported to the jail. Stanford has no prior arrests in the area. He is scheduled to be arraigned on manslaughter charges on March 21st.

If you have any information about this incident please contact the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation continues.
