First Lady Ann McCrory cancels visit to eastern Carolina domestic violence shelter

WASHINGTON, N.C. - The First Lady of North Carolina, Ann McCrory, has canceled her visit to Beaufort County on Friday.

Mrs. McCrory was planning to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Ruth House, but she had to cancel due to illness. She sent a letter wishing the Ruth House a happy anniversary and wished them continued success.

Rep. Paul Tine along with other state, county, and city leaders will still attend the event to help mark the anniversary.

The First Lady of North Carolina will be visiting Beaufort County Friday.  Ann McCrory will be in Washington, NC to help mark the one year anniversary of Ruth’s House opening its doors.  The shelter serves victims of domestic violence throughout Beaufort County.

"First Lady Ann McCrory has demonstrated a deep concern for the victims of domestic violence and we appreciate her show of support," said Deb Ryals, president of Ruth's House in a statement.

McCrory will be joining the Ruth’s House board, volunteers, donors and staff for a dinner at Harvest Church.
