WNCN Marketing Director Robby Thomas (@takemyjobrob) takes the baton on Monday, March 3, and will share photographs of the television station as it prepares for winter weather. Weather coverage is a top priority at WNCN, and meteorologists Wes Hohenstein, Bill Reh and Alyssa Corfont will follow Monday's conditions closely.
RDU Baton, started by Brittany Iery and Susannah Brinkley in late 2012, is modeled after NYC Baton, which focuses on that city. The idea is that one photographer per day takes photos and then shares them with the community – and then passes the baton on to someone else. Only individuals may sign up. Companies are not allowed to hold the baton as a way to protect the artistic goals of the project.
WNCN's Thomas has been at the station for two years. As Marketing Director, he is responsible for the station's branding efforts. He plays a lead role in the station's community involvement, such as the partnerships with Band Together, the Capital City Clauses and "Stock the Sled," the International Festival of Raleigh and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's local "PurpleStride" for the Raleigh-Durham affiliate.
