Firefighter injured while fighting Hueytown house fire

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A firefighter was sent to the hospital as a precaution after he was injured during a house fire call.

The fire started around 9:00 a.m. Monday at a home in the 3000 block of Virginia Drive in Hueytown.

The fire caused the house’s carport to collapse.

 A piece of wood hit one of the firefighters and knocked him down.

The man is expected to be okay.

No other injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
