Northside beats rival SW Onslow to open Eastern Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Northside-Jacksonville held rival SW Onslow to just 28% from the field in the second half as the Monarchs beat the Stallions 54-44 in the opening game of the 2014 Eastern Regionals in Fayetteville.

The Monarchs will now play the winner between Trinity and Kinston on Saturday for a berth in the 2A state championship game. That second semifinal was postponed on Tuesday and rescheduled for Wednesday.

Davion Ayabarreno led Northside with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Northside-Jacksonville improves to 23-3 on the season. SW Onslow falls to 19-4 with the loss.
