Woman killed in Smiths Station house fire

SMITHS STATION, Ala. - Authorities are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a woman in Smiths Station late Wednesday afternoon.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris said the name of the woman who died in the fire on Lee County Road 220 identity was not immediately available pending the notification of her family.

The Smiths Station Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze, which remains under investigation. Few other details were available early Thursday.
