The North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin picking up storm debris from properties in Alamance and Guilford counties, and non-incorporated areas of Orange County.

Residents can leave vegetative storm debris along DOT-maintained right-of-ways. The service will be time limited, however an end date was not immediately available.

Orange County Emergency Services says the pick-up service will not apply to residents who live within the limits of the Towns of Hillsborough, Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

Heavy rains Friday created high water on the ground, but those same rains froze on tree limbs and power lines, knocking out power for thousands and toppling trees all over the Piedmont.
