Elderly Fayetteville couple beaten during violent home invasion

Posted: Updated:

An elderly couple was attacked early Monday morning during a violent home invasion and robbery in Fayetteville.

Around 1:25 a.m. Monday, police say four men forced their way into an elderly couple's home in the 800 block of Berwick Drive.

During the robbery, the men -- two of whom were armed with handguns -- attempted to bind the couple's hands, but when the restraints failed, the suspects began punching and kicking them.

Police say the men obtained an undetermined amount of money from the victims and fled the residence.

The names of the victims are currently being withheld pending further investigation.

Anyone with information concerning the home invasion or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Sergeant G. Womble with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 916-2764.
