Pirates fall to UNC Greensboro, 6-5

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

East Carolina left a pair of runners on base in the ninth inning, and fell to UNC Greensboro 6-5 Tuesday night at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

The Pirates fall back to .500 at 8-8 with the loss. UNCG, coach by former Pirate Assistant Link Jarrett, improved to 7-8 overall and 2-2 on their current road trip.

David Lucroy (0-3) took the loss for East Carolina, giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings pitched.

Junior Caleb Henley (2-1) picked up the victory for the Spartans. Adam Swim collected his first career save.

East Carolina drew a season-high 13 walks and recorded seven hits, but left 17 runners stranded on the base in the loss.

East Carolina is back in action on Wednesday night in Wilson, North Carolina playing Wake Forest from the ACC. The game will be played at Fleming Stadium.
