DURHAM, N.C. -

A Durham man accused of murdering his wife in 2005 has accepted an Alford plea deal.

Raven Abaroa pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to voluntary manslaughter in the 2005 murder of his wife, Janet Abaroa. It is an Alford plea, which means Abaroa is not admitting guilt in the death of his wife.

Janet Abaroa was pregnant with the couple's second child when she was stabbed in her Durham home.

The district attorney's office offered the plea deal late last week. In the Alford plea, Abaroa doesn't have to admit guilt. A Durham assistant district attorney said the plea was offered with the consent of the family.

Abaroa was facing a first-degree murder charge. He was sentence to more than 10 years in prison.
