RALEIGH, N.C. -

Three teams from Eastern North Carolina competed in state championship games on Saturday. Unfortunately only one came out a winner. The dynasty that is Kinston basketball continued its dominance with another big time performance this afternoon. The Vikings played in their fifth title game in the last seven years, and they would raise the championship trophy again!

Brandon Ingram led the way with 28 points and 16 rebounds while senior Andrew Lopez chipped in 27 points. Kinston outlasted North Rowan 67-57. For the Vikings it's their third straight state championship.

In the 1A title game East Carteret lost in a heartbreaker. Trevor Willis led the way with a game-high 24 points. In a back-and-forth game the Mariners took the lead with less than 10 seconds to play only to see Winston-Salem Prep get a tip with just over a second left to take the lead back. Jacque Brown had a shot go in and out at the buzzer and East Carteret lost 72-71.

On the girls side, Riverside-Martin played eight-time defending champ Bishop McGuinness for the 1A title. Freshman Kayla Jones had 31 points and 14 rebounds for the Knights but missed a few crucial free-throws late. Alex Putman hit a shot from around half-court to win Bishop's ninth straight title. They won 61-58.

We'll have highlights from all of these wild games tonight on 9 on Your Side at 11!
