Kids toss jello at Vidant doctors

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - A bunch of children threw jello in their doctors' faces today.

But don't worry, it was all in good fun.

Vidant Medical Center puts on the event every year.

It's part of the hospital's Child Life Month celebrations.

Doctors say it's a way for sick kids to see them as real people and break down the fear of being in a hospital.

"It's a fun way that that the patients can relate and say 'they are fun' and 'we can have a little fun' it's like normal life,” said Tamika Mackey, Vidant Health. “So they can relax a little bit and not be so scared and see the doctors are actually pretty cool to be around and talk to."

Vidant says Child Life Month is dedicated to honoring child-life specialists and increasing awareness about their important work with these young patients.
