Police seek volunteers in search for Hope Mills teenager

HOPE MILLS, N.C. - The Hope Mills Police Department is organizing a search for a missing 15-year-old girl. Chief Joel Acciardo said the department is currently signing up volunteers to help with the search, which is planned for Saturday.

Danielle Locklear was last seen on March 11, as she left her residence on Trencholm Lane in the Fox Meadow subdivision, police said. Investigators said Locklear may have been near the Lazy Acres RV Park later in the day.

Police described Locklear as bi-racial, has black hair, green eyes. She stands 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs around 150 pounds.

On Saturday, police will be leading a search of the wooded area behind Danielle's neighborhood. Because the area is so large, volunteers are needed to assist with the search.

Anyone wishing to participate in the search should report to the South View High School student parking lot at 8am. Prior to arriving to the search, volunteers should email finddanielle@townofhopemills.com with the following information:

Date of Birth
Phone Number
Drivers License Number

(Social Security Numbers were requested in previous sign-ups, but Acciardo said that information is no longer requested.)

Volunteers can also register Saturday morning. Volunteers must be over the age of 16 and sign a release waiver before participating in the search. Searchers should wear comfortable clothes for the search.

Volunteers who want to contribute drinks or snacks should meet at South View High as well.

The Fayetteville Police Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, the SBI, the FBI, and other agencies are helping locating Locklear.
