Report: Wrong-way driver killed in I-275 crash was drunk

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - A man who was killed in a crash after driving the wrong way on Interstate 275 in February was drunk and under the influence of marijuana, according to a newly-released report.

A toxicology report released by the Florida Highway Patrol on Friday said that Chase Kaleb Leveille, 25, of Riverview had a blood alcohol level of .21 when he made an illegal u-turn on I-275, drove northbound in the southbound lanes and then crashed head-on into a box truck. The crash happened February 21, just north of Bearss Avenue.

The toxicology report also said that Leveille was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash.

Leveille died instantly. The driver of the box truck, Jason Lullen, suffered minor injuries.

FHP is still investigating the crash.
